Bishop James E. Bolden III was born in Houston, Texas, and has been devoted to the gospel since a very young age. He answered his call to ministry in 1981 while serving under the leadership of the late Dr. C.A. McDonald Sr. at Church in Camp Springs, Maryland. With more than 24 years of military service and a strong apostolic succession, Bishop Bolden is known for his ability to train, motivate, and disciple leaders for Christ.
In 1995, Bishop Bolden and his family relocated to Jacksonville, Arkansas, after serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Stepping out on faith, he established Evangelistic Ministries Church with only a small group of believers meeting in a recreation center. Through perseverance, prayer, and dedication, the ministry grew into a thriving church in the heart of the city. Today, EMC continues to make a powerful impact locally and globally, spreading the message of salvation and hope in Jesus Christ.
Bishop Bolden has ministered across the world through Evangelistic Ministries International Fellowship of Churches (EMIF), partnering with men and women of God in places such as South Africa and the Philippines. He has appeared on national television through TCT Total Christian Television, reaching millions of viewers. He and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Bolden, have also hosted the TBN Trinity Broadcasting Network in Illinois.
In addition to his pastoral calling, Bishop Bolden has served his community as a Jacksonville City Alderman, a board member of the Jacksonville Water Works, and Vice President of the Pulaski County Special School District Board of Education. He has also served with the Rotary Club, Little Rock Air Force Base Community Council, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and many other boards and organizations. Known as a “Spiritual Drill Sergeant,” Bishop Bolden is passionate about equipping and encouraging believers to live boldly for Christ.
Bishop Bolden holds earned doctorates in Divinity and Theology and is a certified Christian counselor. He has taught Military Science at Grambling University, Louisiana Tech, and Notre Dame, and he is recognized as a highly sought-after speaker at churches, conferences, and special events.
Above all, Bishop Bolden is a devoted husband and father. He and Dr. Cynthia Bolden are blessed with four sons and five grandchildren. His motto remains true in every aspect of ministry and life: “Stay Motivated.”
